Marcus floors the truck. They smash through a chain-link gate.

Elena is packing a go-bag. Marcus watches from the doorway. You can’t just walk into Nexus. It’s a fortress. ELENA I’m not walking in. I’m walking through. Lina’s in Sublevel 3. The neural decanting chamber. They wipe her tomorrow at 6 AM. MARCUS How do you know? ELENA The USB had schedules. Her name. Her date of “final integration.” Tomorrow is her birthday. They don’t even have the decency to let her die on a random Tuesday. She zips the bag. Slings it over her shoulder. MARCUS Wait. You need a diversion. You need someone on the inside. ELENA (stops) Are you offering? MARCUS I burned my bridges with Corrigan the night I told you where his real ledger was hidden. I’m already dead to them. Might as well die doing something that matters. ELENA Why? MARCUS (quietly) Because I had a sister once. I didn’t save her. I don’t get another chance. But you do. Long silence. Elena’s eyes glisten, but she does not cry. ELENA If we do this—we’re not heroes. We’re arsonists. MARCUS Good. Heroes rebuild. Arsonists make sure nothing stays hidden. They shake hands.
