Here are the major fault lines where the culture cracks. When the "bathroom bills" started sweeping state legislatures, the mainstream gay rights establishment was slow to act. Some gay men and lesbians reasoned, "I can use the restroom just fine. This isn't my fight." This is a luxury of passing privilege.
