If you have a large library (or many older third-party sound sets), the process can be tedious. You have to locate each .omnisphere or .db file manually if the auto-scan doesn’t catch them. Some older patches may break slightly — for example, custom sample mappings or arpeggiations might need tweaking. Also, there’s no bulk “select all” option for updating if patches are scattered across different folders.
The upgrade process itself is straightforward. Once you run the “Update Patches” command from the Utility menu, Omnisphere automatically converts your legacy sounds. Most patches translate surprisingly well, keeping their character while gaining access to v2’s sound sources, effects, and modulation options.
