Moving beyond the literal interpretation of the Microsoft operating system, this analysis posits that Lima utilizes the "window" as a metaphysical portal. By exploring the intersection of user interface design, melancholic aesthetics, and digital anthropology, Lima’s work redefines the window as a site of both imprisonment and escapism in the hyper-connected age. Gleison Lima emerged from the early 2000s Brazilian digital art scene, a period defined by precarious internet access and the rapid adoption of Western software. Unlike his contemporaries who celebrated pixel art or 3D rendering, Lima focused on the interface itself.
