The story follows Rohit Mehra (Hrithik Roshan), a young man with cognitive disabilities resulting from a childhood accident. He is an outcast, bullied for his childlike innocence. After his mother (Rekha) shows him his late father’s research into extraterrestrial life, Rohit uses his father's old computer to send a signal into space. He receives a response, leading to the arrival of a harmless, blue-skinned alien (nicknamed "Jadoo"). The film chronicles Rohit’s unique friendship with Jadoo, how the alien helps him gain confidence and physical abilities, and the subsequent attempts by a greedy scientist to capture the alien.
