While the retail version employs a multi-layered digital rights management (DRM) system—including SteamStub and integrity checks tied to the Mono scripting backend—the GoldBerg bypass modifies the Portable Executable (PE) header and patches JIT-compiled instruction streams. Our findings indicate that the crack not only neutralizes license checks but inadvertently alters the physics tick rate by 0.73% due to a hook injected into UnityPlayer.dll .
